Early in 2020, we visited large premises in Gloucester to discuss a living wall. It was a good site, with a bathroom behind and kitchenette around the corner, meaning that plumbing and drainage for any irrigation would be fairly straightforward. We felt that the light could be a little better, but Mobilane have a selection of different full spectrum LED lights, so this would be easy to solve.
The wall was to be approximately 4.5m wide by 3m tall and would contain approximately 650 plants. We quoted for the wall (frame and plant cassettes, plants, irrigation unit and lights) and were given the go ahead fairly quickly. Then, of course, Covid happened and everything was put on hold for a while, but fast forward to the end of the year and we got the call to proceed.
We installed the wall in the middle of February 2021 and as you can see from the pictures, it looks spectacular already, and with time to grow and fill the gaps, it will only get better. (Indeed, four weeks on from installation, the gaps are already starting to fill, as you can see in the pictures below.)
